No response to cold-emails, any advice ?

I go to a target and has mostly been reaching out to analyst alumni. I am late to the process and have been sending out ~50 emails since past week but only secured 2 coffee chats. Of course I will send out more emails, but what else could I do to make sure my resume don't get tossed. I am not in any club and previously worked in tech so I don't really have much in commons with them. Here's one email I sent out:

Subject line: "Fellow Upenn Econ student reaching out"

Hello xx,

My name is Y, a student at xx studying Economics and Computer Science. I found your contact on Linkedin and decided to reach out. I am highly interested in the investment banking industry and I would love to learn more about you and your work at the TMT group as well as how your background in Computer Science helped you in your daily role at Morgan Stanley.

Would you be available for a brief phone call any time this coming week ? I'll make sure to accommodate your availability. I have attached my resume for more context. Thank you for your time and consideration !

Best regards,
Y

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you !

To be fair, I know a lot of students have been struggling with getting responses to their cold emails. I had a similar issue last year during my recruiting process. What I did was try to reach out to people from a similar ethnic background, interests, and sports. It worked much better, but you also need to keep in mind that every single student is trying to reach out right now, as interviews are picking up.

Is it over if we don't get responses ? I have heard that sometimes they still sent your resume to HR if they are to busy to reply/schedule a call. Do you know what else we could outside of emailing to get responses ? I have been going to info sessions and talked to analysts in person yet they still ghost me the next day

you just keep spamming until it works honestly lol there are no secret hacks

“Hook a fellow Nigerian up, my man! Winky face winky face”

A cultural name could work well, or something that worked for me was looking for people who spoke the same native language as me. It was hard to find people that did - but when I did find them, it was almost a 100% response rate. Most people from my culture are very willing to help others.

It’s a relationship industry, dumbass.

You’ve been giving shitty advice when you can’t get a single interview to CIBC as a diversity student.

Stfu. Go cry somewhere else, inactive entitled waste. Let people who get shit done get shit done.

Personalize. That's all I gotta say. Make the connection apparent and ppl will want to hit you up.

This could be a better email.

  • You're handicapping yourself to a one week deadline and you emphasize accommodating someone else's availability. They are the ones accommodating you, keep it open ended instead.
  • You don't need to explain how you found their contact information because it is mostly taken for granted. Instead, If you have any industry experience add it to the subject line.
