Non-target: Difference in networking for Jr year internship and FT at BBs vs. fresh/soph internships at local/regional

What are the chances of somebody being selected to interview by just applying online for a BB SA or FT spot?

It's obvious the networking that takes place to get freshman and soph yr internships, but how does it work on a grand scale in your critical years?

it's really easy for me to cold call some regional in freshman/soph year and ask about internships but how are you supposed to network for your real internship and FT?

Especially coming from a non-target that is nowhere near NYC.

And sorry for the long thread title.

first networking skill is the search function, after that everything will fall in place. With all seriousness though come on man go on a website get some emails, some phone numbers and do what you gotta do, its not rocket science
