Political Science major and investment banking
I am a recent graduate of a no name school in Georgia, but my gap is a 3.93, and planned to move to New York City (I was born there) for law school. My plan was to do corporate law for a couple years and then transition to business.. That was my plan on becoming an banker.. However, the high costs of law school is making me contemplate not doing that; in addition to not wanting to really do law but use that to get into that business.. So I would like to know how I can become an investment banker without doing the law school route..
What law school is it? Depending on the law school, sometimes BB consulting firms will recruit there, but it's pretty rare, has to be the top of the T14 schools...
Now, in Georgia, is "gap" some alternative metric for academic performance? Or is it literally the gap between your two front teeth?
I plan on going to NYU Law School or Columbia, if I can get in.. I am currently positioned to have an excellent chance of getting into NYU Law School (I'm in the gpa range and LSAT range). So would I be better off going to a t14 school in New York to have a shot at investment banking?
Also, it is G.P.A, but my MBP keeps changing it to gap.
Hmmm in that case I would have to ask the two if they have BB recruit from their law school
Yeah, I was just interested if I could get into investment banking a different route that costs less money. Is possible to get into investment banking with my Political Science degree?
Moving from Political Science to IBD (Originally Posted: 01/13/2010)
A friend of mine has recently been interviewed for a SA position in IBD but he's graduated as Political Science student. he screwed up when he had to tell the reason why ibd knowing full well that what he's interested in is politics. the obvious reason were the bucks; but he couldnt say that
how would you go about such a question?
is it fair to say that he's planning to move into ib in the shorter term only? :s not convincing though :s
There are numerous prepackaged answers for that question. Most people interviewing for IBD have money as their primary motive so your friend isn't the only one giving a less than candid questions. Most people do IB for 2-3 years and then do something else so it isn't a huge deal. Most large shops throw you out after 2 years anyway.
