Regretting starting a new job in SF when I wanted to be in NY

I know this this is not the most helpful post and mostly a rant/looking for advice so thanks it anyways.

I always wanted to live in NYC but never did because I wanted to save money and not live in a HCOL... big mistake and realize it now. Some other factors also played a role that had me living in other cities.

I've been looking into new jobs that can propel my career and after a lot of search in different cities (specifically in NYC), I just started the new position at a firm based out of San Francisco. It's a great a firm where I know I'll learn a lot, although I had to sacrifice on my title but hopefully it's worth it. I tried to find something in NYC but nothing worked out and it would've been stupid of me not to join the firm I did in SF.

Now after living here for a little while, even though I like SF and it's a great city.. its just not New York and I feel I'll live the rest of my life regretting not being in NY earlier in my career. I don't want to be early to mid-thirties with family and kids looking to move to New York. Probably have 2-3 years max left before I'm at that stage.

Any advice on if I should stick it out at this firm and then look to leave within 1 year? I assume that won't look too great? Any other options?

Would like to hear positives about SF also things people typically do aside from work.

Super valid that you want to get to NYC earlier rather than later. I've always preferred SF to NYC personally (lived in SF for a summer, headed back for FT, only visited NYC so take it for what it's worth.) I think the food scene and sports scene in SF is actually pretty underrated and if you are into nature obviously SF has some of the best to offer in the world. If you are dying to get to NYC though I would just keep pursuing every opportunity that will land you there.

North Beach area is my favorite. Vibes are awesome and food is top notch (Tony's, Homeade Italian Co., Original joes, Busters). I also really like the Marina area and particuarlly fort mason is fun on the weekends if they are still doing the farmers market. Definitiely try to catch a warriors game in Chase Center if you are a sports fan at all!
