SA Superday for Goldman Sachs Operations Division
Look, I read these forums often and it is apparent that the majority of people on WSO are either working in or pursuing careers in front office positions such as IBD and S&T, but being that I am from a non-target school and being that the front office at GS does not even recruit here, I think operations is commensurate with my level of experience and level of ‘prestige’. With that said what could I except on Superday for a SA position in Ops? I am a math major so I suspect they are going to drill me analytically, but I also notice that operations itself at GS is sub-divided into various different operations divisions such as Derivatives Operations, Trade Operations, Risk-Management Operations, and so forth. Should I pick one or two sub-divisions and study their inner workings? Or should I study the Operations Division as a whole and how it contributes to the success of the entire firm? Should I talk about the current status of the economy like people have been advised to for front office positions? Or just the fundamentals? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, especially if one has gone through this particular process or one similar (e.g. Ops Superday at another BB). I posted this topic in IBD discussion both because it is the most widely viewed discussion and because there is not a distinct Operations discussion forum. Thanks guys.
