About Our Client

Associated British Foods (ABF) is an international food, ingredients and retail group with sales of £12.8bn and over 124,000 employees in 48 countries across Europe, Southern Africa, the Americas, Asia and Australia.

ABF has a relatively centralised Treasury approach despite a decentralised business model. The Group Treasury function acts as a centre of expertise based in London and is responsible for the funding and financial risk management of the Group.

Group Treasury also provides significant transactional support to business units. It acts as an In House Bank to many business units, centralising cash via a range of diverse pooling structures with a number of banks, and acts as a centre of expertise in the management of foreign exchange and commodity exposures. Group Treasury also act as a payment factory making foreign currency or Cross Border commercial payments "on behalf" of many business units and head office companies

Job Description

Management of the group's financial and risk management activities
To ensure Treasury acts as a centre of excellence for group businesses, providing advice and support for their risk management initiatives
Support the business units in applying hedge accounting under IAS39 and lead the implementation of new accounting standards (e.g. IFRS 9)
Ensure compliance with current and impending regulations e.g EMIR, <span class='keyword_link'><a href="/resources/skills/finance/dodd-frank-act">Dodd Frank</a></span>, MiFID II)

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA), and ACT qualified (or at least working towards/desire to commence studying).

In addition we are looking for:

5+ years Corporate Treasury / financial management experience with a thorough understanding of corporate risk management <span class='keyword_link'><a href="/resources/templates/excel-financial-modeling/balance-sheet-template">techniques for balance sheet</a></span>, FX and commodity risk management
Strong computer literacy, particularly excel modelling and <span class='keyword_link'><a href="/resources/excel/study/vba-in-excel">VBA</a></span>
High energy and enthusiasm
Willingness to travel to business unit sites
Team player and able to work across treasury, finance and the business units
Flexibility - ability to work in a flexible manner, to meet changing priorities
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Ability to present and facilitate discussions in small and large forums
