My story in short:
(1) non-target bachelor degree in Europe
(2) investment banking at a BB firm in London and Paris
(3) non-UK based PE focused on Eastern and Southern Europe
All together - 7yrs of experience. And I m very likely to be promoted to VP level at my current PE firm by the year end...And I want to leave and work in either London or US (NYC, Boston etc).
My question to you guys is whether you think it is feasible to get VP level job at MM/MF PE fund with my background? Or is it likely I will be asked to downgrade to Associate position?
What role would MBA play here if get one? Would General MBA help to secure interviews at least? Or it is more common for Associates and does not really change anything for VP+?

Most likely won't be able to lateral easily at VP level.
Companies won't explicitly state it buy most PE shops hire at associate or senior associate level and then promote to VP. This is largely because as a VP you're quite expensive and in all honesty not worth the money without any prior track record with that firm.
To add on to that, the fact that you're trying to jump across the pond give you less negotiating leverage / flexibility / etc.
It's obviously possible, but will be a pretty uphill battle...
