Wrong major
I hose the wrong major in college. I chose a social science degree, leaving me with every little options to seek employment out of college. I went to a T15 school, but that doesn’t mean much anymore apparently. I would have been better off going to a shit school with a finance degree.
I work in commercial real estate appraisal right now, but there is really no skills to learn. We’ve got a template that does all the work. No one seems to know what they are actually doing. And also I’m not passionate about this job as well, just took it cuz of the recession. I’d love to get another shot the good jobs like IB or consulting, but seems like I missed the bus I live to regret my decision now…
Depends. Econ is a social science. History and Sociology regularly break into Wall Street from T20s. But I agree - it’s hard if you don’t get that initial summer analyst / finance experience in your college years.
