Introduction - Nick C.
Hi all,
Just writing to say hello and glad to be part of this community. I am looking to gain more internal insight regarding equity research and PE as well as IB, since I am trying to figure out the area I am most interested in. I am currently an accountant/analyst at a real estate company that focuses on acquisitions and property management and looking to make the move more out of real estate. Currently studying for the CFA Level 1.
Any advice is welcomed.
Looking forward to being part of this community.

Hi Nick.
Hey EBITDA,
mind me asking how you got into M&A?
Always been passionate ab deal generation. When I got into stocks I figured IB was a perfect mix of deal generation and valuation.
So from a deep non target I cold emailed ab 1,000 guys who worked in IB.
Wow congrats on the offer.
Good to hear how many people you reached out to and the rate of success. Gives me hope haha. I'm currently in the cold email phase haha. Any advice on who (job title) to email with the best results?
I'm in a sort of weird situation - Bachelor in Econ from Syracuse (2014), Investment Banking Internship Junior year, 2 yrs at a big bank as a business banker, 6mo contract as a Financial Analyst at a real estate company, 2 yrs as a technical operations manager and current at the real estate firm as an accountant/analyst. Trying to make it back towards IB without an MBA. Hoping the CFA Level 1 will help.
Analysts will yield the best results response wise. They are usually a 25-33 percent response rate in my opinion.
Associates have a lower response rate however they can offer more opps/ deeper advice as they are more involved in hiring.
HR/VP/Others all depend on firm
My main suggestion is just reach out to every Syracuse alumni in IB (specifically those at the analyst/ associate roles and those who work at smaller firms like boutiques).
Thank you for this, seriously helps and gives me a lot more direction!
Good luck!!
Thanks! Also - should I be looking to move to roles like "Investment Analyst" and/or "Registered Client Associate" or leave out the client associate roles?
