Recently laid off ad am looking locally in NYC are as well as Chicago and Texas

I joined this forum today to get advice on the following predicament. I was laid off from my recent employer where I was a Mutual Fund Accountant, I have been in the field since I graduated college in 2010. I am looking to move from Mutual Fund Accounting to a Private Equity Accounting or more of a finance role within the Investment Industry. I am looking in NYC where I still live and have held these types of roles, I am also willing to move back home in Chicago or try something new in Texas.

Any advice you guys have would be great on a role change from Mutual Fund Accounting to PE Accounting or a Finance role, also on job prospects in NYC, Chicago and Texas.

Thanks

Are there anything course on PE (accounting) that could take in NYC? And start networking with fellow course attendants.
