very-new newbie looking at fall consulting recruitment

Hi y'all! Got introduced to WSO by a friend today during dinner and decided to check it out. The last two hours have been so helpful to my research (which so far has been kinda slow).

I'm a Canadian international student attend a T10 target school in the US, majoring in stats and political science(junior). For a long time, I thought about going into law in the U.S.. However, after a summer interning in a DC law firm, I thought this might not be the best idea. I went around and asked my coworkers/supervisors what they suggest I look into, based on my strengths and weaknesses. A significant number of them told me to look into consulting, which is what I have been doing in the last two weeks. I talked to two consultants last week - one from McKinsey HK and another from Accenture. They gave me a much better idea about what kind of job I am looking at, and surely made me much more interested about their companies.

Weaknesses:
- I have zero background in business, and have just started reading "the 10 Day MBA" and Businessweek. However, I'm terribly confused on many concepts.
- My freshman GPA is lower than average (3.5) for my school. Though my sophomore GPA is much higher (3.95), my average is still pretty off (3.75). I'm afraid with this GPA will devoid me of even first-round interviews.
- I just started learning about case interviews in the last 4 days, which means I have 1-2 month only plus school to prepare.
- little to no networking experience. Super super super awkward.

Here are my goals for this recruiting season:
- maintain a 4.0 GPA this semester
- network a lot (which I serious lack and don't know how)
- maintain close connections with recruiters
- practise case interviews as much as possible
- get first round interviews

Thanks for all the help and advice!
