Has anyone gone on any insane golf trips? It looks like there's an area slightly to the east of Antalya, Turkey that has golf course after golf course right on the coast.
Scotland would obviously be amazing too. When I lived in Miami the courses there were pretty good, and I went up to Jupiter a few times. When I lived in San Francisco I played a few courses around Lake Tahoe, one in Napa, and some on the southwest part of the Bay. In NYC now most of the golf I play is when I go home to Rhode Island in the summer or my girlfriend's hometown in CT.
Would love to plan a big golf trip with some of my friends. I've heard good things about Mrytle Beach courses. Scottsdale would be an obvious choice too.
Pinehurst is fantastic
Kiawah is ranked #1 in SC. You could stay in downtown Charleston and it is a 45min drive or you could stay closer to Kiawah if you wanted.

Kiawah is fantastic. The courses will legitimately kick your ass though. These aren’t corny country club courses built for 75 year old members.
Kiawah hosted the PGA Championship or US Open a couple of years back I believe. Super difficult course and like CRE said you will get your ass whopped if you play it but it's a great experience.
La Quinta Resort and PGA WEST in Palm Springs. Great courses but the resort is great as well and there’s tons of nice pools and dining options.
I forgot about Palm Springs! La Quinta looks like it's actually reasonably priced
It used to be a Waldorf Astoria but they were bought by Hilton and didn’t do much renovations. Resort is a bit old but still super nice and a great deal.
I think there are like 3 tournament courses at PGA West where they play the AMEX TOURNAMENT. I would definitely consider it if I were you.
Personally was looking at Palm Springs or Kiawah but sided with Palm Springs just because of the stuff to do outside of golf. I also don’t really wanna pay $800 to play the ocean course. Have a bunch of buddies who have played and said they wouldn’t do it again and would rather just play Pebble.
Kiawah is amazing, would recommend. Other than that in the US scottsdale and Myrtle are great choices.
International I’ve heard Algarve region in southern Portugal is amazing, and surprising Bulgaria I’ve actually heard good things about (but more in its infancy there and isn’t insanely built up like in the US or other places).
I hear Afghanistan is great this time of the year.
Really? The Kabul Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course located near Qargha that I heard was kinda fun if you're in the area. Have you played there?
Have been to Kabul back when they had the CTC there, but haven't played there. I was making a joke.

• Streamsong Resort -- it's in the middle of nowhere, but is apparently a bucket-list golf experience, with 3 of top 100 courses, best in Florida, and the only place in the world with courses designed by each of the famed course designers, apparently.
There is Red, Blue, and Black, each designed to be a separate experience.
I've been there, and is very much a "golf trip" sort of destination, to get away from life/work and relax.
It's also popular with privacy-conscious wealthy clients, and for annual meetings, etc.

• Waldorf Astoria Orlando / Waldorf Golf Resort (Orlando) - I've been there as well - if you want to be near Orlando for meetings, or if taking your family/kids to Disney, the Waldorf Orlando resort is a good option, and is popular for corporate meetings.

Was just discussing this topic with my assistant. We've had meetings at a few of these in the past, and she mentioned a few others (being considering for other meetings, but less golf-centric), but for a golf trip, these were enjoyable/memorable.
Second Streamsong - caddied there during college. You'd never expect such a beautiful place to be in the middle of Florida. Only downside is that it's fairly far from Tampa/Orlando (an hour or so to both, little longer with traffic) so you'll either not be sleeping much if you're playing 36 and trying to leave the resort in the evening or staying there the whole trip.
Definitely not the best, but underrated would be Trent Jones Trail in Alabama.
Bandon Dunes
So much depends on the type of trip you are after and the company you’d be taking.
If you are able to get invites from members then Long Island, Southern California or Monterey, etc. although given this is difficult for many public tracks may be your best bet. Bandon, Pinehurst, Streamsong, Palm Springs all offer a generous amount of courses in one location, means you can always add in additional rounds and cuts down travel time For more travel inclusive, south east coast could be a good option to do Hilton Head, Kiawah, Sea Island possibly, there are also some great new courses slightly in land but still in low country
Further afield, as you mentioned turkey has a strong pull for many UK golf holidays, along with Spain and Portugal.
However, as an American, would recommend instead to do Scotland or Ireland. Pick an area for a week and do 4-5 big name courses, with the opportunity for 1-3 hidden gems. Have travelled for golf quite frequently so happy to discuss through DM if helpful
Getting the opportunity to play Shadow Creek at the end of this month. Almost the same as getting a round at Augusta National in terms of how hard it is to get a game there.

The only way to get through the gates at Shadow Creek is inside an MGM Resorts International courtesy limo. Who Can Play: No longer cloaked in secrecy, but still a tough “get,” Shadow Creek is technically public, because it's open to anyone—anyone, that is, that spends sufficient coin at an MGM property.
Best course I’ve ever played was Kapalua, plantation course. Maui has some sick courses on the island.
