How often do you guys get pinged

Student here interning at a search fund. Cannot stand how often I get emailed to do something, it’s typically unrelated or something so small they could change on their own (this isn’t me being ungrateful, but it literally can be 10 emails per hour).

I know you guys mention how much you get pinged and all the “pls fix” jokes. Is there any independence at all or is it just bombarding with shit they can fix on their own but don’t because “their times too valuable.”

Or am I just tweaking out.

Tbh they probably send the plz fix message’s because you are running the file and if they make a change and you make other updates on your file that may still be open on your computer it turns into a latest version shit show when v29 you sent for edits get back to you and you’re already making changes is v35 and your head explodes trying to see who changed what

They're pinging you because they want you to learn, not because they're incapable of doing it or their time is worth so much more. It's way faster and more efficient to just go fix something yourself, but then the intern doesn't learn what small mistakes they are making. This is really not the attitude to have as an intern.

Yeah fixing 1,000 random tiny nits is incredibly annoying, but that'll hone your eye for them. This is completely normal for any new analyst. The pings go away over time because you get better and start seeing the mistakes or proactively making tweaks.

Yeah makes sense, i’m happy to learn from my mistakes. My issue more so lay in minute things like unsubscribing from something in their inbox (when the unsubscribe button is there, but instead I log into everything to do it). Just seems over the top. Definitely grateful for learning from my own mistakes though, no fault in that.
