Studios by Hudson River?

I’m thinking about moving in with my gf next year in NYC and we will probably have a combined rent budget of about $3,500 (combined gross income of 170k~). We are okay with a studio but we really don’t want to be near Herald square or Times Square areas (so places with not much tourists and homeless people). How reasonable is it to be able to find a studio at that budget, closer to the Hudson, and relatively close to a train for uptown?

I really like the tribeca and Chelsea area but not sure if it would be in the price range.

I know I can check Street Easy but wanted to gauge y’all’s experience.

ROFL.  A place... any place in Manhattan with a river view for $3500.  Have you tried Poughkeepsie?

Seriously, if you are mucking around on 10th/11th near the Lincoln tunnel or way up from Hamilton Heights up to Inwood it could happen.  There are cool places way up on the 1 (and A if you go high enough) but it's an experience you'll get a better value without the view, & a "state" tennis pass for riverbank is $20 while a "city" for any other court you might consider playing is $200.  The hispanic food is amazing tho.  There's a taco cart on 136 & Broadway from 8pm onwards with killer linguas.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Thanks for the monkeyshit, but my statement actually still has a lot of value.  You ain't gong to find shit on the UES or by Columbia.  From the low 30s to about 59th then north of about 130th you'll find options.

Should be able to find something. Tribeca is expensive, Chelsea is a bit cheaper but $3500 will be a very small studio for 2 people. I'd look around UWS personally, you might be able to find a 1 bedroom in a nice, quiet neighborhood and it's a decently upscale area.

Be careful being too close to the Hudson. The apartments in Hells Kitchen right on the river are like a 15-20+ minute walk to the subway, and it's largely the same below the ~70s of UWS. Work backwards off of what train you'd take to work and try to stay under a 10 minute walk from the stop.

This place in Chelsea looks pretty good and there is a washer dryer in unit which is hard to find. And a dishwasher! Very rare.
