UES vs UWS
I am a fairly recent transplant to the east coast and currently live in Westchester for work, realize it is horrible here and want to move to the city. Looking at UES or UWS with proxmimity to GCS or Harlem 125th up there (although I hope to start MBA next year or get a new job in city so that priority may drop). What's everyone's thoughts? I heard UES was a bit fratty and UWS has better access to subways. Was also considering midtown but heard you get a little more for money out here. I am in my late 20s, single and plan on moving in with some random people from Craigslist in Sept-Dec.

Are you crazy? You WORK in Westchester. Why would you want to live in 4% local tax NYC?
If you're bored, get married, buy a house, have a kid or two.
LES is fun although I feel I would become an alcoholic if I lived there.
I work in Westchester but hopefully that will change within the next year or so as I mentioned either due to school or a new career.
I think I would always regret not giving the city a chance being so close to it, if I end up hating it so be it.
Those other options sound horrible.
Midtown East is definitely better for you commute wise, with its proximity to Grand Central and the Metro North trains that will take you to and from Westchester County. There is now quite a lively night life scene along 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Midtown East along with decent restaurant options. Plus you now have an Apple Store at Grand Central too.
Also Grand Central Station is a subway hub so you can get around the city fairly easily too.
