Any suggestions for a green hand of Corporate Development?
Hi, I just escaped from a boutiqe M&A firm and got the "Corporate Development Analyst" offer from a large company. I am wondering what are the differences between working in banking and working in Corporate Development. Any Suggestions would be appreciated.
I believe I have totally different background: I am from China. I got my undergraduate education in China and UK and graduate education in US, all majored in Accounting. After 4-month intership in a small personal care product company (mainly about the integration after acquired by a Chinese company), I joined a boutique M&A firm. I did not enjoy working in banking, so I made this switch.
Also feel free to ask me questions if you are interested.
I'm in a similar situation (minus landing corporate dev. gig). Doing boutique M&A looking to land corp dev.
You should do a search on corp dev, there are a couple really good threads on it. it will give you some good insight. biggest difference in smaller/infrequency of deals, your salary/bonus, and hours.
This is a wealth of info on CorDev from one forum member.
It's one of the highest ranked threads for good reason.
