Six Months to Get Laid

Recruiting season has finally ended and I've accepted a consulting offer to start in July 2009. Much thanks to WSO for teaching my state school ass how to network and interview.

My main dilemma right now is that I'm graduating in December and will have nothing to do for about six months until I start working. I am looking for suggestions to fill that time.

I've got some money saved up between internships and signing bonus, so traveling is an option. Maybe I can afford to spend 6K-7K.

This issue came up with most firms when I mentioned being a December grad. Suggestions I got from interviewers included "Go to Amsterdam and smoke a ton of weed," "Be a ski bum," and "Just don't get arrested."

While I can see their point, I also don't want to be completely worthless, and am looking for something a little more fulfilling, or might look good on a B-school app. On the table so far:

-Volunteer for the national park service
-Volunteer abroad (expensive)
-GMAT (painful)
-CFA Level II (I want to do finance eventually) (doubly painful)

As you can see, I need some more suggestions here. I'm sure others are in the same boat, but I found nothing with the search function.

I actually got an internship that last six months, "Spring Semester," working part time at a reputable firm.

Heh they didn't know I had a full time offer. In hindsight, I wish I had traveled. I haven't taken a vacation since sophomore year and I graduated about 3 years ago. I would go now, as far as the marijuana usage goes, I suggest you stay away from that just in case they misplace your sample.

Anyway, decide what's more important. Getting laid or getting paid, just remember that when you're getting one, the other's getting away.

I would do some traveling and prep for your CFA Lvl II at the same time (assuming you already passed Lvl I). No reason you can't do both if you start studying soon enough.

True. I don't think Ludacris, TI or Kanye are worried about the recession. I figure I can join their entourage.

Funny you mention that, I was reading this morning that Kanye's new album sales have been disappointing relative to his past releases and they were discussing whether it is because of the economy or bc Kanye is such a dbag

Clearly TI isnt worried about the recession since he is promising all these hoes that they could have whatever they like...making me look bad

I am in the same boat, but luckily Austin is one hell of a town to spend your spring semester without going to school. I plan to go abroad for two months afterwards. You already sold your soul to the devil, you might as well start acting like one of his minions.

Absolutely go to Europe. You can take the GMAT/CFA anytime, and you'll have a paycheck soon enough (assuming you don't need the extra cash from a short spring internship immediately).

The memories you'll make overseas will last you a lifetime, and it will be a while (if ever) before you can take off 3 months consecutively again...

I'll also recommend Europe. Didn't expect to have the "time of my life" overseas, but that's basically what happened.

I'm in the same situation... I'll get some temp job, study for and take the GMAT and in late spring I'm traveling to Europe and SE Asia. If I really feel like I want to achieve a lot, maybe I'll trade the GMAT for the CPA...

Go abroad, try to learn another language, get as much far away as you can from your own language, date some Czech girls...do something that you can tell your kids about in 10 years (when i was a czech czar...right before becoming a finance voodoo...)

Travel now while you are young. I did a topdeck tour this past spring semester while I was studying in London, it was the best time of my life.. one of the best! You meet great kicking ass ppl and have tons of fun.. and ye.. you do get to have the option to do weed in amersterdam.. and if you want.. the pink alley is also open for u..

Other travel options - continki, kumbaba (not sure if this is how you spelled, world travel ticket, etc :)

Can someone please tell me what the appeal to Europe is? Go to Vegas and spend 6 months drunk at the poker tables. It will be july in the blink of an eye and you will have another 50k in debt.

it's a lot cheaper than europe - around $20 per day and depending on how long you have, you can also do india or china. europe is so cliched.

Bro, I don't think any tourist will be going to india for a bit.

I'm not sure if you've heard.
