Banks that are most chill about PE recruiting
Analysts who have gone through the PE recruiting : which firms tend to be most supportive of their analysts recruiting? Given how crazy on-cycle is, I presume this is p important. I've heard GS is generally not supportive whereas PJT, Laz are. Any insights on the other BBS/EBs?
MS and PJT are both very chill about recruiting. HR at Harris Williams sends out an email to their whole MM PE contact list advertising their analysts.
In general though, if you’re at a group that isn’t particularly open about recruiting your relationship with your associates is absolutely paramount. Folks I knew who worked hard and built strong relationships where able to get a ton of cover from their associates when they disappeared for 3 days interviewing even if their banks officially didn’t allow recruiting. On the other hand if you’re known as a jackoff analyst who’s only concerned about his own career, I wouldn’t expect a ton of sympathy from your associates.
Thanks so much! Any idea about the other BBs?
Depends on the team as well in BBs. My BB has some teams very pro-recruiting (usually product groups - M&A/LevFin) and Coverage is more against.
Moelis is very supportive during PE recruiting.
Know a lot more about the EB side of the world (BBs generally less supportive, but if your immediate teams are, that's all you need):
Evercore expects you to (though they'd like you to stay) and sends an email out to entire firm during on-cycle telling everyone to back off analysts.
Centerview basically gets you a job (after 3 years) if you want it (and have been a decent analyst during your stint).
PJT's partners will also stump for you; junior teams typically pretty good about taking on extra work to preserve your availability to recruit.
Moelis is very understanding as well.
Wdym by Centerview basically gets you a job? Do they actively reach out to PE funds/ HFs on your behalf?
Yes, at the end of your tenure. I was being a bit hyperbolic of course, but I've heard instances when major MFs abbreviate recruiting for kids Centerview partners send their way. To be fair though, given Centerview kids 1) exit as third years, 2) have a ton of responsibility, and 3) already noodled their way through probably the toughest and most selective SA/FT analyst recruiting process in the first place, funds aren't really going out on a limb in hiring them.
Are you saying their interview processes are extremely difficult for SA?
Lol I wonder where you work...
How is WF in Charlotte? Especially trying to go to a different city for PE (NY/SF/Chicago)
I was told by alums that they were very open to it (especially in NY where you can probably steal a desk on a WF floor to work while you fly up to meet with HHs/Interview). Given that was also during recruiting dinners so they could have been exaggerating to look better. Would be interested to hear from someone with more direct experience coming from WFS in CLT.

How should an IB associate best position for pe recruiting (on cycle preferred)?
I believe that there are few good WSO podcasts where they interviewed associates looking to recruit.
Any idea how coverage groups at Barclays view PE recruiting?
I’m not sure how group specific it is but I’m at Barclays and my group was extremely supportive of recruiting. I don’t know of any groups that actively discourage it.
Bump for info on other BBs
anything on CS?
what about jefferies
