Best software investors in NY?

About to start as a first year at one of the EBs. I've been interested in software for a while but not sure I care enough to move to SF after banking (I'm from the city suburbs, gf and all my HS/college friends will be in NY).

Not sure if I want to do PE or late-stage GE yet (but I don't want to go directly to public markets). Anyone have insight into the better opportunities to cover software in NY?

Thank you in advance.

Thanks. Heard they're very sourcing heavy though, which I'm not sure how to feel about.

What ab GA's NY office?

There are a handful of solid software / tech focused buyout firms in nyc as well as some outpost offices

nyc based: Siris, Veritas, oceansound, HG (sorta tho ~half in SF), CVC (~half SF), EQT (lots of software in portfolio), CD&R has a tech team now based in nyc, WCAS (a little tech with SF outpost), apax has a tech team, Warburg has a tech team split nyc / sf

nyc outpost: SLP, Sumeru, Providence, etc

for growth there are a lot more options - however, overall if you really want to be in tech long term you should consider the Bay Area (a bunch of firms in Boston too)
