Here’s what I’ve gathered on TorQuest: $150k all in for 1st year associate, $160-$180k 2nd year. Very humble people and solid reputation.
Adding to TorQuest, they also hire analysts, and from what I recall it was $65k base + $35k bonus for $100k all-in
That seems way too low. Anyone else can add colour?
Is this legit? How could it be so much less than IB?
the labour market is over supplied with qualified graduates. Even more so with graduates that want to go straight to the buyside so people will take the offer regardless of the pay.
It is. These are for pre-MBA associates, and in Canada. But I do agree that the numbers are on the lower side for a top fund in Toronto. You can get roughly the same figures at lesser know buy-side shops in 2nd tier canadian cities, where cost of living isn’t as high.

Can't comment on salary, but really like the Altas guys and their strategy. Super concentrated portfolio w/ LT hold periods of up to 10 years or more, which depending on what you like is good or bad. Also. from an outside perspective, seems like it's a firm that places a significant focus on strong culture development and taking a collegial / collaborative approach to things.
