Canada PE On-Cycle

Incoming analyst in a top M&A group and was wondering what the PE recruiting process looks like in Canada. I have heard that it is much less structured than our US counterparts with only M&A groups / US BB's receiving most of the outreach from headhunters but I have a few questions about the process.

1.) How do you get in contact with the headhunters? Will they reach out to you or will you have to reach out to them?

2.) Is there an "on-cycle" timeline like in the US? From reading posts on here it would seem that hiring at places outside of Onex/Altas/Brookfield is done on more of an "as needed" basis (ie like at the pension funds).

Would love to hear any insight from people who have gone through the PE recruiting process in Canada / if you did a banking stint in Canada and went to PE down in the states. Thanks!

Altas/Brookfield follow on-cycle timing with the US, so if US on-cycle kicks off, Altas and Brookfield will be recruiting too. Onex... who knows given the recent news.

Thank you. So would the headhunters for Altas reach out to you if they saw your account on LinkedIn for instance or would you have to send in a form to their website?
