Do Headhunters Screen Candidates by Deal Experience or Firm Name/Reputation?
Im currently at a recently formed independent boutique (think dyal, m klein, dbo) that has a strong team of senior bankers and our deal sizes range from the 200M on the small end to 10bn+. Been getting phenomenal experience but havent had much traction applying to places one-off on my own perhaps b/c Im only a year in. Also havent been inbounded by PE recruiters for associate roles so far - should I proactively reach out to the HH to set up calls? How will I be perceived vs. a BB analyst or one of the more established EBs?
Want to also add that im primarily interested in $1bn funds, esp new firms that have spun out from an UMM or MF platform doing growth stage to growth buyout investing
