H1B/International Students
Currently, I am a first-year in IB (no international office) and I am looking to recruit for PE. Given I am on STEM OPT, I will have three shots for H1B. In the worst-case scenario where I am not selected, what would be the best way to pursue a career in PE in Europe? I am considering getting Master's degree at the University of St.Gallen, which would give me more time to improve my German and figure out my next steps. How hard would it be to get a job in PE in preferably Switzerland but open to London and Germany after completing Master's program? What has been your experience after leaving US?

As a general matter, it is multiple times easier to immigrate to the UK than the US. Back when I was in banking, our non-American employees who didn’t win the H1B lottery (and who were deemed essential/critical) were sent to our London office instead.
So my advice would be to pursue an MBA or some other Masters program in London, and then recruit from there.
As a side note, it’s pretty ironic to be honest. One of the reasons why the US is so great is because the country has historically attracted the greatest minds from all over the world (quite literally sometimes - for example, America was able to go to the moon because of Wernher von Braun, who was literally snatched to the US from Nazi Germany). But now the bureaucracy has put a damp on the talent inflow.
I assume you mean legally. There are even eastern Europeans and Africans coming across the completely wide-open southern border now.
