How to value a buy and build company
Hi all,
I am one of the two founders of a new venture aiming to consolidate a fragmented market. Our goal is to position ourselves as the leading company in our sector within the next five years. Currently, our company exists in concept only, represented by its founders.
We plan to invest some of our own funds initially, but we're facing challenges in determining a fair valuation for subsequent funding rounds. Given that our situation doesn't neatly fit into a typical venture capital framework, we're finding it particularly difficult to arrive at a valuation that isn't too high or too low.
How would you approach valuing a company like ours, which at this point is driven primarily by a vision of future market leadership? Any insights or experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
