IB Internship -> PE Internship -> MBB FT?

Sup everyone, here's the situation nice and short.

I did an IB internship last summer at an MM, this year I have a PE internship at a UMM, and I graduate May 2024 from a non target. Here's the kicker, I want to go into consulting (better WLB supposedly) for FT

  1. Am I crazy for this?

  2. How can I most successfully achieve this?

First question doesn't make sense, not sure why applying to MBB is crazy.Second, I got 2 ft MBB offers and did pretty random internships (meaning not high finance).I have friends who did IB and PE internships going to MBB ft though and they said that IB internship kids apply in droves to ft MBB pretty much solely for the better WLB lol. So what they told me is that you got to have a good story for why consulting because the MBB interviewers get spammed by IB kids looking for better WLB and they're obviously looking for you to have a better story than wanting better WLB (they can sniff out if you're lying). That's why MBB takes so many kids who are doing other things (prelaw, premed, engineers, English majors) instead of just the finance hardos since they're looking for diversity of thought.Anyways as long as you're good at casing you'll be fine, that’s the most important thing. Since you’re at nontarget you’ll probably have to network a good amount to get interview

Thanks for the write up, with my internships should I have an easier time getting interviews?

Secondly, as someone who has never done case studies, how difficult are MBB interviews compared to IB/PE Technicals?

Cheers

With regards to your first question, I have no idea, like I stated previously MBB likes people from all backgrounds.

Second question, my friends who did IB/PE internships said MBB interviews were a lot harder than technicals because they make you think logically while technicals are basically memorization, but you have to try yourself and see if it’s hard for you or not.
