Moving-up opportunities from a i-house M&A/corporate development

Monkeys,

What would be my opportunities ahead/exit options from my current role as a M&A analyst for a major retailer? Some backgrounds: I currently working in the M&A team for a retailer/O&G company in Dallas. Prior to that, I previously work at a minor PE firm, doing M&A for portfolio companies. Although I enjoy my current role but want to explore my options 2-3 years ahead. I do not mind relocation at all.
