Notre Dame for IB/PE

How does Notre Dame perform for IB (EB/BB) & PE placements, especially in NYC? How does it compare to similarly ranked schools like Vanderbilt/Northwestern/Duke? Lastly, are Econ majors in the College of Arts & Letters viewed less favourably than Finance majors in the B-School?

ND is a tier below H/Y/P and Wharton, but places extremely well for both buy side and IB. In the past two to three SA cycles there have been a full range of PE offers (BX GSO/RE/Infra, KKR PE/RE, Bain Cap PE/Credit, GTCR, Ares, Stonepoint), every EB except CVP, all top RX groups, and every BB (More of a focus on GS, Citi, BAML). Citadel/P72 also recruit, although there are rarely offers. While many of the top offers go to diversity students or students who have strong connections at financial sponsors or the right East Coast prep school background (not a dig, just a fact, especially at EBs, certain BBs like MS, and some core PE groups), I would argue that you can get almost anywhere you want from ND with enough elbow grease. The loyalty of the alumni network is also unrivaled. Anecdotally, ND graduates have also placed very well in the last round of on-cycle recruiting, with a number of MF and UMM offers. Also, the idea that ND only sends kids to Chicago is completely incorrect, there are probably an equal or greater amount of NY placements.

Econ won't hold you back if you join the right clubs (namely SIBC), but Finance does have some advantages. It's easy to transfer to Mendoza though if you keep your GPA up, aim for >3.7.

Hi! Not sure if you're still active but I'm an intl admitted to ND and I'm wondering about placement numbers specifically for intls. Would love to chat in DMs, pls drop a message if that's possible. Thanks!

Mendoza is comfortably above all the schools you listed and on par with low level Ivys, UChicago, the big state schools (UVA, UMich, UT), and in most recent placements arguably above NYU.

Econ is on par with the schools you listed and has not placed particularly well in the past however selection bias does play a role in this.

Edit: NYU kids are mad. A GS offer is a GS offer. Some of yall need to cope.
