PE Associate 1 Pay
Wondering what the numbers now look like for Associate 1 pay at private capital firms. Would love to get some data points with firm size, strategy(PE, GE, PC, etc.), and location. I have seen some $250-350k numbers thrown around 2-3 years ago, but wondering what the numbers look like now especially given how much inflation has gone up since then.
Asso 1 MF Growth NYC $335k cash comp, Asso 2 on my team got $390k cash comp
Associate I at a newer MM firm in a tier I city $135K base $135K bonus ($270K total comp), some but minimal carry, and co-invest in most recent fund.
Heard Associate II was ~$310K-$320K depending on the individual
What is the fund size of the firm? Also grats on getting in the carry pool so early!
Between $1-2B latest fund. Not accounting for any large payouts but it's definitely nice to be included and have some compensation tied to your portfolio work. Leads to some healthy competition in the bullpen on whose company is performing the best
320k in tier 2 city at UMM (CHI / HOU)
curious what size fund?
Nice, I have been considering recruiting for Chicago/HOU for COL reasons. How have you been liking the cities? What are the big firms there that would pay 300k+?
I have really liked it. Difficult to list the firms since there aren't that many that pay this much in these cities.
NYC MF: $330k
Not sure how much it goes up from there
Damn bruh am I at the lowest paying MF in NY? Lmao
Maybe, but still getting paid a lot relative to your age and PE comp really seems to go up significantly once carry is in the question(VP+).
Ignore title....
MF in NYC
ASO 1: $370k
ASO 2: $435k
ASO 3: $490k
Where tf is this?? That is crazy good comp
Top ~5 or so PE MFs in terms of fund size
I think these numbers are typical for MFs. I'm surprised to see other people saying their NYC A1 TC is lower.
$750mm fund in DAL/CHI/HOU. ASO 1 year: 135 base/150 bonus. not expecting crazy bump as AS2, likely ~310k
This is very very good for the fund size and location. Would expect <$250.
Yeah that's what I've surmised talking to others, get grinded pretty hard here so I think they recognize that w/ the comp. Can't complain with the fat COL arbitrage I'm getting.
$200K tier 3 city lmm fund
MF in NYC:
$360k as ASO 1 scaling up to $460k by year 3
Public or private MF?
To offer a slightly different data point, 150/125 (275k total) for PE co-investing at a top ~3 player in the space - associate 1
NYC? What are your hours like?
$250k total comp ASO 1 - NYC based MM with $3B+ AUM
Seems like a bit of a underpay given a fund size of $1B+ last fund. What made you choose this firm?
True. Probably would expect closer to $300k for fund size. A track record of internal promotion drove my decision. Ultimately, didn’t want to play offers off each other as well.
Signed MM <$1B fund size for 125+125+15
~$1B fund in LA, 150 base 120 bonus
Two Chicago data points
- <$500mm fund 125 base 60 bonus
- ~$2B fund 140 base ~110 bonus
.
Associate 1 at UMM PE in T2 city; bonus target is a pretty wide range, but at the midpoint, year 1 would be 280, excluding signing and relocation of 50
T2 city as in Boston/Atl kind? 280 for a T2 city is like 350k in NYC, so great comp!
Thanks dude yeah my city’s metro has around 4 million people
250 all-in CHI/HOU
MF in NYC
390k all-in
180k base, 210k bonus
is this h&f ?
From a friend that got an off-cycle offer recently for Aso 2 type role at smaller fund (ranges given for anonymity)….
$400-$430k cash comp… $325-$380k/year carry assuming standard 2x MOIC…
TC $725-$810k…
Seems above market
