Soon to be college freshman looking for advice
I just graduated high school this year and I will be starting as a freshman at Emory University next year. I want to make sure that when I apply for a PE internship for next summer that I am a prepared and competitive applicant. Are there any steps that I should take over this summer to help improve my chances? Are there any programs/courses that you would recommend taking? What should I do in college to help my application?
Thank you all so much!
First congrats on getting into a good school.Steps between now and your first internship.
1.) Get some bitches. And enjoy life. You haven't even started college. I didn't even know what IB was til sophomore year second semester at my non target.
2.) Make a nice LinkedIn. And once school starts go ahead and reach out to people who are where you want to be one day and ask them insightful questions.
3.) Get good grades. Join the investment club. Stay curious. Follow markets.
4.) Get bitches. I don't want to work with a kid who the only thing he talks about is financial modeling and what the 10 yr is trading at. Learn to be social. Very important.
Have grit. And understand there will be ups and downs over the four years. Learn from the failures and don't settle, and shoot high. Wish you the best.
1.) No
2.) Ok, I will start working on a LinkedIn page.
3.) Got it. Are there any other clubs/organizations you recommend joining?
4.) No
Would you be able to do a quick 10 min call one day through Discord/Zoom so I can ask you some questions about IB?
If you are as insufferable to be around in person as you seem based on your responses to 1 and 4, the candidates who are equally as qualified academically (many) but will be enjoyable to spend time with in the bullpen (plenty) will far surpass you in interviews. That should now be your first priority
