Sponsor Finance Commercial Banking to Private Equity - Is this doable?

Hi everyone.

First time posting here. Would be curious to get people's thoughts on the likelihood of being able to transition from a Sponsor Finance/Leveraged Finance group of a Bank's Commercial Banking arm to a Private Equity firm? For someone with 2 to 3 years exp in underwriting senior debt for LBOs, would that be good experience to become an analyst at a PE Firm? This is at a Big 5 bank (RBC, Scotia, CIBC) in Canada, not sure if that makes any difference.
