Texas Buyside

At top NYC bank and curious about top buyside placement in Texas? Not interested in energy or RE which shrinks the field, but open to PE, HF, or even credit. Only big names I can think of are Vista, Citadel/Surveyor, HBK. Maybe TA, Sixth Street, Canyon but not sure?

Trive out of Dallas looking to raise $2.5B for their next flagship fund and has been growing pretty steadily the past few years.

In Austin, Parthenon Capital and Serent both have offices. Haveli is another fund to check out there - they're a spinout of Vista by one of the co-founders.

In Sports PE, Arctos is one of the top (if not the top) names, and seems like the majority of their investment team sits in their Dallas office.

Trinity Hunt in Dallas just announced an oversubscribed $700 million fund today.

On top of ones already named - Lone Star, Fortress, Paceline, Carlson Capital, not sure what TPG headcount is there.  There is that Millenium fund that they just pulled a ton of money out of.  Crestline is there.  Under the radar but WindAcre is Houston based I believe.

Dallas actually has alot of weird small hedge fund / family offices (including Q investments).

Trinity Hunt is nice

I’ve met a couple people from Trive including a SA/VP at my last fund and that person was mind f’d and a mental midget with whatever horror Trive put that person through. I’ve also dealt with them when selling an asset (rather hairy deal) and it was a lowball bid. Just my 2 main interactions.
