Thoughts on Warburg Pincus

Simple:

What are your thoights on WP (London)?e.g. Investements, Culture, Investing Strategy.

From what I have heard: very extensive DD, long pipeline search, focus on growth. Very chill but relatively small team (compared to other US MF in London)

Edit: chill: I mean people are nice to work not that hours are nice. Just that the people are chill and support each other

Can't speak to London exactly, but have significant interaction with the U.S. team. Unsure where you got the chill vibe from, because my impression is that they're intense and fiercely intellectual. I think culture would vary depending on the group

Reputationally, one of the most prestigious funds and considered the elder statesmen of the private equity industry. Consistently high performing funds (don't think there was a hurdle on the most recent vehicle). Focus on deep industry expertise with a broad thematic angle

They're referred to as a growth investor, but are really a flexible mandate sponsor as experience would vary between groups (mostly traditional buyouts in IBS while tech group is largely growth checks)

Great brand, considered a MF and differentiates from itself its peer set by its growthier orientation -- bread-and-butter is minority growth checks but will also consider deals in either direction (late-stage buyout, earlier stage Series A/B) in its main fund.

Performance has been solid but not spectacular (all four flagships since 2007 are marked as 3rd quartile per Preqin), but the legacy and brand means fundraising will not likely be a problem moving forward, along with the differentiated value proposition.

Encountered some of the London team on a couple of processes on the sell-side and found them sharp, no cultural red flags.
