Falfurrias have a great reputation + great returns too, they've been able to source in the Midwest very well. Great investors and they've really been able to source great deals well and have been able to get great executives to run their portcos. They were founded by ex-BofA senior executives, have scaled steadily for the past 15 years or so. Their Managing Partner is a really smart guy
I interviewed at Broadtree when deciding if I wanted to stay in private credit life or become more operational w, a PE team. I picked the former and I am happy, comp at Broadtree is very low
Thank you! Do you have any insight on comp for associate to senior associate with the smaller firms in Charlotte?
I think Sr Associate was 110 base, not sure the bonus or carry
Do not have unique firm to firm insight as I'm still a prospect but here's a list:
MM: Ridgemont, Pamlico, Falfurrias, Carousel
LMM: Broadtree, Summit Park, Blue Point
Growth Equity: Frontier
Will say based on what I've seen and firm websites that there's a strong preference for Harris Williams & BlackArch analysts and a strong W&L/UVA/UNC presence at the MMs
Bank doesnt matter as much as school in charlotte. Funny how its the opposite in NYC.
Bump on Ridgemont and Pamlico - have met some of the guys at Ridgemont once and seem like good people
This is a good list
Thank you! Do you have any insight on comp for associate to senior associate for any of these? Not finding much on my end.
Anyone have any insight on the headhunters for these firms?
I know Ridgemont is Dynamics Search Partners and Falfurrias is Opus Advisors.
Any insights on pamlico culture?
I think anecdotally Charlotte firms might sometimes have a more challenging time finding people who want to move to Charlotte, so have a solid reason for why you would want to move to the city. Also, have heard that Falfurrias is decent, super detail-orientated people, down to the nth degree, and get super involved in all their portcos. Also are banker-heavy so somewhat sweaty in nature. They also have a strategy team, which means that a lot of the market and annoying port-co work gets handed to them.
