A little background:
Special situations group that mostly acquires non-performing loans in the range of $10 -$100M.
Not your typical 2/20 fee structure, so less PE like, more AM style.
I was sent an email from HR after my final round today to send my expected range of total comp.
Company is in Houston.
What would be a reasonable number? I know that all in comp in "normal" PE ranges from 150k - 350k, but this is different.
I am thinking all in of $90k but do not want to sell myself short and would greatly appreciate some help.
Can you elaborate on your background/experience?
That's not very much background. Your target comp could be between 60K and 500K depending on what the role is and what experience/expertise you bring to the table...
ask for 200k then ask for 70k then ask for 100k
Ha, this is certainly an interesting negotiating strategy.
I say he opens at $5 million, immediately comes down to $45k, then settles in up at $125k.
Background is nontarget and 1 year at a boutique IB firm (~20 employees) that works deals $15M - 100M, with most around $25M.
This is an Associate role.
How big is the firm/fund?
