What should I do? (Lateral Recruiting)

After accepting an Investment Banking offer in San Francisco following a series of unsuccessful interviews in New York City, I stumbled upon a Private Equity opportunity back in NYC that aligns perfectly with my qualifications and offers a significantly higher salary.

Feeling a bit frustrated that I didn’t discover this opportunity sooner, I’m now contemplating reaching out to the headhunter who helped me secure my current job to gather more information about the PE role. (The headhunter just posted it on his/her LinkedIn)

However, I’m concerned about potentially causing tension with the headhunter and unsure about the best approach to pursue this new opportunity independently. Any advice on how to navigate this situation effectively would be greatly appreciated.

If the opportunity is with the same HH, then nothing you can really do imo. HH won’t work with you again if you renege on an offer they just got you (looks bad on them)
