Listed REIT vs MM REPE

Inspired by a few comments in another thread, I would like to understand what you lovely people would take if you were entering the market in today's current market from I/S or without prior principal exp (or with minimal buyside exp) . - a strong top 5 listed REIT OR a MM REPE

I'd lean toward the brand value name of the REIT but the only thing that would hold me back is if I'd struggle to move to repe different risk profiles - would you likely just move to an institutional investor

You couldn’t pay me to work at a REIT again. That reporting and strict hierarchy is brutal. MM REPE all day imo, much easier to get a slice of carry/be a principal earlier.

Maybe there’s an argument to be made for brand value earlier in career, but not as much of a consideration once you get a few years/txns under your belt.
