People who are not commercial brokers getting their license - why?

I see a lot of people at development shops in various roles with their brokers license and number in sig. Seems like a flex more than anything. Can anyone explain this?

Maybe (?) it has value for deal makers, though I am in acquisitions and have never needed/wanted it. Otherwise, I don't see the point.

Can someone enlighten me?
