Constructing a Worthwhile Resume as a Freshman
So at some point this month I look to apply to both Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan's Bridging the Gap Summer Internships for Freshman.
Naturally, both require a resume and I was looking for any feedback or advice on mine. Please have at it, the more critique the better. Being aware that I attend a non-target, what can I do to still have my resume be taken seriously? I know that some aspects of the resume may not seem the most relevant but as a freshman who just finished his first semester I find myself lacking anything else to put down.

Don't put 'expected to be completed' for your coursework. It looks like you're trying too hard. It's OK to be a freshman and not have all your coursework complete.
For your job, just put the month and the year when you do dates; don't write "July 17th 2012" when just "July 2012" would do. For your SGA job, put the year for both dates.
Don't write that you're a "member of ____" or that you're running for election. Just list a few clubs that you're really involved in; being a member of 600 clubs just takes up space on your resume.
Make your work/leadership experience into one section, titled "work and leadership experience."
Please don't put "excellent interpersonal skills." That's a big no-no.
You're not doing too badly for a freshman; keep it up and good luck!
Changes made. Thanks for the advice! I just can't seem to find anything to fill the space.
Don't put in stuff just to fill in space; people can see through that very quickly. You're a freshman: no one is expecting you to be a VBA/financial modeling expert with BB experience under your belt. Focus on doing well in school and getting leadership positions in your clubs; keep your eyes/ears open for opportunities and your resume will be fine in no time. SA recruiting is still a long time away, but kudos for starting early, man.
You make a good point and thank you.
As a freshman, you can also stick in leadership experience from high school if you had anything worthwhile.
Not a bad resume.
Like someone said earlier, as a freshman it's perfectly fine to combine work & leadership experience into one section. I would actually encourage this.
"Excellent Interpersonal/Social Skills" is not needed on a resume. The recruiters don't care about seeing that on your resume. That's what the interview is for.
You're a freshman and you've already declared a minor?
Don't put member behind every club. Just put the club's name. Putting member is really repetitive as one would assume you're a member if you're putting it on your resume.
You're missing periods on the first two descriptions of your office associate job.
If you do not have a major GPA, don't put it in there.
Your cumulative GPA should read: 3.77/4.00 (Make sure amount of numbers behind the decimal place correlate.
Your third bullet point on your work experience should read like this instead:
"In charge of all registration responsibilities such as church software and group events, as well as filing of required forms and paperwork for the church."
Make sure the experience you had in the past is in past tense. I also made the same mistake and some member on this board corrected me.
Your second bullet point on your work experience should read:
"Responsible for all phone calls and important messages in regards to the church's daily operations, as well as scheduling priest and employee appointments."
"Interacted with walk-in members of the church as well as nonmembers on a daily basis to address their questions and concerns in a professional and satisfactory manner. "
If I find any more I will let you know.
Yeah I'm trying to remember anything that would look good on there, Kid Flash. And Grand Jury, thank you for that in depth post, changes have been made. I appreciate it.
I only scored an 1890 total, so I guess that's not happening. And that's good advice, it definitely is a lot more relevant to what I'm trying to do compared to other experiences.
Co-sign everyone else's recommendations above. I suggest hitting the ground and getting an internship; the way it looks now, your best shot is in PWM. Try your school's recruiting office, alumni, etc.
PS - Nice username. Severely underrated and overlooked movie.
