Putting individual grades next to course names in the relevant coursework section?

Hi all,

I had a question regarding the formatting of my resume. I did eight finance courses so far, most of which I put in my relevant coursework section. I finished all of these courses with really good grades (A+ equivalent). Therefore, I usually put the grades next to the names of these courses in the relevant coursework section. Is this appropriate? I've never seen someone do this before but I do feel like it provides added value.

It would look like this:

  • Relevant coursework: Finance 1(9.8/10); Finance 2 (9.3/10); Finance 3 (8.6/10); Derivatives (8.8/10); (etc.)

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Also, should I replace one of these courses with more quant/econ courses such as Econometrics/Macro/Micro/Applied Statistics? Or should I just fill two lines with just Finance & Accounting courses (this previously worked with me but I feel like it's a bit too much)?

Do not do this. It does come off the way you think it comes off. Your GPA is likely very high if you are an A student, so leave it at that. If you would like to show your major GPA as well that is permissible. Under no circumstances should you list individual grades on a per-class basis. That would be an instant ding, which is why you have not seen it done before.

Look I feel you, you're trying hard to demonstrate you're smart and hardworking. When I was your age I would've done anything I could to stand out, especially with how competitive it is now. But between your GPA and your major GPA you will certainly come across as intelligent, so just focus on your technicals and making a real connection and youll do great.

Best of luck to you in recruitment!
