Swimming upstream - trying to get a career break – would appreciate your feedback

Hi folks,

I’ve been working in the financial industry for the past 8 years or so, in a support function (trading assistant/operations/product control) and looking eagerly to get into a revenue generating or client facing (i.e. front office) role. The reasons are simple – interested in following markets, performing analysis, working on spreadsheets, interacting with people, desire to drive the business and work in a result oriented field and last but not the least better pay.

I believe I have a strong background for front office roles, but finding it extremely difficult to break away from the type of roles I’ve been doing. Here’s a summary of my background:

Education: Finance and Accountancy (GPA 3.7 and 3.9)

Certifications: CFA, CPA and FRM

Work Experience: Supporting trading desk on buy-side and sell-side across a broad range of products. Gained solid understanding of such instruments and their risks.

Other: deep understanding of financial statements and good in building excel models

Location: I’ve lived in New York, Singapore and currently based in London. Ready to move into a junior role and change locations for the right role.

I would greatly appreciate your feedback on my resume and suggestion on possible routes I can take to make this career change. Please be as blunt as you see fit.

Much appreciated folks! Thanks in advance.
