Advice Needed for MFA
So. I am not exactly sure how I should be writing this and what info I should provide.. I guess I’ll start with what info I am looking for. I plan to go into an MSF program immediately after my undergrad which I graduate Fall ‘24 so in about a year and change. However, I have very little information regarding what schools I should look into, what would be considered a reach/locked, etc.
Basic Info:
I graduated High School 4 years early and will be graduating with my Bachelor’s in Finance at 18 and as such I have very limited work experience at the moment. I do have a semi-guaranteed internship in the summer next year at a medium sized insurance firm and I worked in my universities finance department for a semester. My current GPA is a 3.67 with a majority of my grade being pushed down due to a C in Statistics and Business Communication. This was due to some personal issues and I plan to retake them next semester and most likely replace it with A’s. I also plan on taking the GMAT next year which I am not sure what I will get but based on practice tests, it looks like it would be around a 650-680 at this current point but I plan to study more and potentially get a tutor.
Current schools i’m interested in (not in any specific order):
(Main) UT Austin/McCombs
Rice University
Indiana University
USC
Texas A&M
ASU
Vanderbilt
Villanova
UCLA
NYU
I realize there are a lot of options there but I simply want to get a general idea of what to expect going forward and where I should put the most effort into/what I should do.
If I am missing anything, please let me know!
What about MIT? And what does an MSF have to do with an MFA?
I mean MSF, must have gotten the acronyms confused in my head while writing. MIT is definitely an option, but that’s more of a program that I would prefer to endeavor with some work experience.
