Apply to spring weeks before or after starting uni?

I'm about to start a 3 year undergraduate degree and have got my CV and CL ready for applying to spring weeks en masse. I'm wondering if I should send my app as soon as the window opens (without uni societies on my CV) or wait until the start of October to gain some uni finance society experience to put on my CV? So it's essentially a trade off between CV material and sending in an on-time/early app.

Thanks.

I guess it depends on whether your CV is strong enough already. Mine is fulled with relevant work experience but I just feel like the societies would emphasise my soft skills better. But also I doubt you’ll be able to get some kind of a leadership role in a society by October, so I don’t see any way in which it would provide a significant added value to the CV.

True that I wouldn't be able to get a leadership role but it might display an interest which seems more personal than just my work experience, even if I only attend. I might put the societies which I intend on joining, stating that I am a 'prospective member' or something alike...

Depends on what uni you are both going to but most finance societies have things you can do which look great on CVs as a first year, student funds etc. Check your finance socs social media pages to find out what they do and then go from there. Happy to give some more detail if you just drop me a dm.

I mean to be honest I think you should make it 50/50 apply to some position which are rolling and that you dont really want early but wait for rolling you want and non rolling ones you want and don't want.
