Baruch>NYU

Hi Monkeys, I am a high schooler going into his senior year. Before I get the "high schoolers shouldn't post on WSO" and the "enjoy you're youth" I just want help on college decisions. Baruch has always been appealing to me. I think I would love living in NYC. Baruch I have heard is a decent school and is controversial about weather its a semi-target or not. Like any one else on WSO, yes I want like to go into IB. With Baruch I know it is a slim chance no none to get a BB IB FO gig. Could I break into MM IB going to Baruch? If no what about ER or CO? I am young so I am not sure what area in finance I would like to pursue. Thanks Monkeys!

Funniest

The only New York schools from which you can get into BB IB are NYU Stern and Columbia (and maybe Barnard, though recruiters prefer CC or SEAS). Before applying to either school, however, you would do well learning the difference between "your" and "you're" and how to spell "whether."

Hey dude, I went to Baruch and got an ER internship at a BB. Needless to say, I would go for Columbia or NYU because it was as endless and tough grind, especially during covid. It is possible, but it will be your job 24/7 to network and figure out how to acquire said internship.

Go ahead and JUMP!

Commenting on this old thread incase anyone ever stepped upon it again. Baruch for sure is a semi-target by now, given the 2 active finance clubs (the investment management ones) have a majority of their members securing summer internships at bulge brackets. And it seems PE would be a common exit for them after their FT analyst stint.
