Business School Class Profiles

I was looking through class profiles of top b-schools and was surprised that the largest percentage of admits came from consulting. I'm assuming overwhelming majority of those admits are MBB?

Does this mean that its "easier" to get into b-school from consulting than it is from banking?

My goal isn't to make banker money quick. I would be happy making 200k 10 years down the road. And although they are quite different, both consulting and banking interest me (banking slightly more)

But, I'd rather work 40-hour weeks to get that than 100-hour weeks to make a million. However, I am willing to do whatever it takes (working however long) to get to that point in 10 years.

Keep in mind that many people in banking don't apply directly to b-school, but transition to something else first, like PE, VC, corp dev, etc. That being said, it's a well-known fact that MBB sends a ton of consultants into top b-schools every year, so if you absolutely want to go to b-school, that's the most straightforward path.

If you're satisfied with a six-figure salary and want a good lifestyle, you might want to look into corp dev. Those jobs generally offer good security, decent pay, and much better lifestyle than banking or consulting.
