Chances at Fin job out of Regional State School?

Quick rundown of me: 24yr Junior in a regional state school. (UT system, NOT University of Texas itself) Work experience in local insurance agencies and Microsoft (small to med corporate Acct Mgmt). Looking at IB/M&A or anything I can get my hands on really.

Here is the long version: Building on what I stated before this I’m a 24 year old college junior focused on finance trying to enter the high finance BB world. I know the odds are stacked against me coming from a regional state school but I just want some input here.

I’m still in school because of previous fuck ups I’ve made in my life. Depression kicked my ass and I almost offed myself. Anyways fixed that and now on the path of recovery with my education (GPA) and networking.

I’ve worked my way up to a Microsoft job that unfortunately was cut during their layoffs this year. I feel that given the experience I’ve acquired without a college degree, my odds increase a bit a these roles?

Internships will be a bust because I shot myself (no pun intended) in the foot early on and many will overlook me for better candidates. (Don’t blame them)

Currently considering just skipping straight into Masters program to increase and fix GPA and possibly attend a target school that makes this easier.

Give it to me straight: what are my odds? No BS no fluff, what can I do better?

P.S. any tips on work during college years? Currently thinking about going back to insurance sales (don’t flame me I need money) to help but I feel that my efforts would be more fruitful in networking? Thoughts?
