Disadvantages of submatriculation

I have the option of submatriculating into my university's business school after three years in the undergraduate program, thereby enabling my to receive my undergraduate degree and my MBA in five years. What are the disadvantages to pursuing this option, and do they outweigh the disadvantages?

The only disadvantage I could think of is that you simply won't get as much out of the MBA as your peers as you will have no FT work experience and they will have a couple years of it.

However, I've seen resumes of other people who have done this and it seems that it hasn't stopped them from entering at the associate level...even though they have no prior experience.

I would do it because you'll be an ibanking associate at 23....

This is just an option that I'm looking into because (a) it reduces the hassle of applying to business programs, and (b) I would save money.

My work experience would be limited to summer positions. Can anyone describe the differences between an undergraduate business program and an MBA program? Does working full time provide a skill set that is necessary for success within a top MBA program?

brackmdj, thats what I thought but they still managed to get ibanking associate internships the year before graduating....

You don't exactly have ZERO work exprience as the people that have gone this route had internships every summer

In my opinion, internships don't really count as "work experience." There's a pretty big difference among FT work and everything else in terms of responsibilities, etc.

But whatever, good for them. Did they go on as FT associates after their summer stint?

I am also considering this option but from a nontarget school. But my problem is that I'm not sure if I want to go into investment banking or sales/trading. Do you think a MBA would help in both or just in ibanking? Also, will it look hurt that I did a BA/MBA in 5 years without the work experince. Please comment.
