Emory MBA Possibilities

Ok so I just got accepted into emory 2 year full time MBA starting in 2023 and was wondering the following:

  • How well does it place in IB? EB? (Besides Truist in ATL lol) Thinking of going the IB route at BB hopefully and if it doesn't work out or not for me I'll do the consulting route. Both appeal to me, especially the opportunities both will give me further along the line? I know Emory is more of a consulting training center when compared to what it offers in terms of IB

  • How well does it place in MBB

  • What reputation does Emory 2 year MBA have on the street?

Also, this question is directed to current or former students, but how rigorous is the program? Quality of the professors? I have an idea of this from my research when creating my shortlist but I want some actual opinions from people who have dealt with it

per last years employment report, 55% of their full time hires ended up in consulting with a median base salary of 170k making me think the majority of them end up in MBB

plus out of all their hiring companies BCG and McKinsey are marked to indicate they hired more than 3 students 2022. Bain not so much i guess

Most Helpful

Places 15ish people a year in IB out of ~20 that try. It’s a small class so the alumni base isn’t huge but they’re helpful. BAML takes a few a year, JPM takes 1-2, Morgan Stanley took a few last year, Wells Fargo has in the past, Citizens in Atlanta normally 1-2, and Jefferies 1-2 last year. Outside of that there’s alumni at Credit Suisse, Citi, Rothschild, PWP, and I’m sure I’m missing a few. Recruiting is a grind but if you’re a decent candidate and put in the work you’ll probably get a job, though it’s not a lock. Qualifying for diversity obviously helps.

To be fair, hustling on your ground game and alumni outreach is how any school outside of the Top 10 really work....the placement reports of Tier 2.5-3 schools (SMU/Tulane/etc) all look like garbage (and objectively each of these schools are worse than Emory) but have powerful alumni in useful places so if you can hustle they'll help you along pretty well.
