German Target Unis

Hello everyone.

From researching on WSO and other forums, I have come to the understanding that there is not a clear cut "target" system for recruiting from German Uni's.

Public schools are considered better however a couple private ones are considered really good and even have international reach (WHU, Mannheim). Would anyone with knowledge on the subject confirm.

Would you rank them based on employability as below?: 

1st: Mannheim (MiM), WHU (MiM/ MIF)

2nd : Frankfurt School of Management, HHL, EMST, EBS, LMU

Am I missing any?

Like you have mentioned, target schools don’t matter in Germany. You can end up at any company you desire with a degree from Greifswald, the only important part is dont go to a FH (University of Applied Sciences).

As far as „prestiege“ goes a ranking would be something like this:

Tier 1 WHU/Mannheim

Tier 2 LMU/Goethe/TUM

Tier 3 WWU/Cologne/Frankfurt School/ESB/HHL

And thats pretty much it. Frankfurt School may place best at IB jobs in frankfurt, but I would account that to its location and thé large classes. thé class for thé MiF at WHU for example consists of less than 50 people if I remember correctly. In general I‘d say WHU is only worth it for its Bachelors or if you want to go into thé startup scene, if you dont care about startups you can also go to public universities and save money
