Help Picking A School Emory(Econ), UNC(Econ), Claremont McKenna College(Econ)
Hello guys, im currently an accounting major at a community college. I applied to transfer for the upcoming semester and have heard from from the schools I listed above for their Econ program. I am still waiting on a responses from Northwestern, Vandy and Rice. Which I would consider over Unc, Emory, and Cmc. But worst case scenario, where do you guys think I can get a better chance at breaking time into IB.

Not sure what cmc is, but this is how I would rank the rest:
Northwestern, Vandy, UNC, Emory, Rice
I would take Emory. As for Northwestern/Vandy/Rice I would take Emory over Rice. Vandy and Emory are pretty similar. I would take Northwestern over Emory.
What’s the cost of each?
The cost of the schools are nearly Identical.. Im grateful to have gotten some very generous financial aid packages. They all include federal loans but out of pocket I only have to come up with about 4K.
My first thought is east coast or west. If east I’d take UNC, then Emory. If west CMC. Any new admissions might change the calculus. I’d also consider proximity to family and “feel”, 2 years is a long time to be miserable.
For west Coast CMC. For East coast Emory. Worry about the waitlists if you get in

If you want to do tech banking CMC could be super helpful just due to proximity to SF

Emory. May or may not be 100% accurate but here’s my rationale. Usually unless there’s a massive difference in prestige then people resort to their biases of either going to a school or having a particular affiliation to it. Hence the variation in responses
UNC and Emory place a similar amount of people on the street but Emory is significantly smaller. UNC does better with certain BBs like Deutsche, wells, BOA and a few others that slip my mind. They send a metric load of kids to these banks. Emory on the other hand does very well with EBs like Lazard or greenhill or CVP(idk very well but a couple of kids go every year) or PWP or Houlihan. However Emory to BB is a lot more doable than UNC to EB. UNC places very well if you’re doing the right things. Emory due to being smaller gives you leeway.
If this was for freshman I would say it’s a tough decision but for transfer I would do Emory. Again this is what I’ve seen and know by being familiar with both. Ultimately they’re not that different and fit would be more important since you said prices are similar.

For now I would take Emory in a heartbeat. Don’t bother with Rice unless you just want to end up in power/energy banking in Texas. If you get Northwestern then take it, Vandy is a toss up between Emory. Overall, Northwestern > Vandy/Emory > UNC/Rice
CMC is the strongest overall otherwise it'd be down to personal preference
Unless you get into Northwestern, Emory’s your best bet
