IE, ESADE, Bocconi MIF ?

Hi everyone,

I'm a student applying to business schools (masters) and considering to work in IB.
I've recently came across the MiF Financial Times ranking which apparently is the most reliable:

can't post the link but rankings are pretty impressive

I've earned a bachelor from a Top french business school (ESSEC) and considering to apply at IE ranked 3rd Worldwide (>MiT ?) , any advices ?

Best regards

Hi there,

I must admit that I don't know much as I am in a similar position, but thought I'd give my opinion anyway.

Where do you want to work? With a bachelors from ESSEC, I feel that you could already get interviews at any BB in France or other EU country, in which case, I would suggest maybe working for a while and then getting your MBA from a top school.

If you really want to do a Masters in Finance, why not HEC or ESCP? Great programs and you are French so that's a big plus. IE is great as well; I am considering applying as well. If you haven't already, you should try and do your GMAT as soon as possible as many schools require a GMAT/GRE score and most prefer the GMAT. I think IE allows you to take their own admissions test instead, which could be an option if you don't have time to do the GMAT (which is likely the case if you are trying for admission to the 2017/2018 academic year).

PM me if you'd like to discuss more. Could be beneficial to chat to someone in the same position!

  • You can't get any decent interview with a Bachelor in France (usually)
  • As OP did a Bachelor and did not follow the traditional prepa > grande ecole route, it is likely to be very hard to get a master at HEC / ESCP (though I have seen a few make the move with ESCP Advanced MFin)
  • Top feeder apart from London-based schools (i.e. LSE / LBS, to which I advise you to apply for) will be Bocconi MIF. Then SSE, ESADE, RSM, IE, and a few others (honestly these are all at the same level)
